Shri C.B. Guttal Ayurvedic Medical College

Our Story

A College Born from Noble Ideals

Every great institution has a story worth telling. Ours begins not in a boardroom, but in the ideals of a nation’s father. Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha (DBHPS), the trust that governs our institution, was founded in 1918 at the initiative of Mahatma Gandhi with a vision to bridge the linguistic and cultural diversity of India through a shared commitment to public service.

True to that founding spirit, DBHPS established Shri C.B. Guttal Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital, Dharwad, in the year 2004 — naming it after the late Shri C.B. Guttal, a luminary deeply respected in the region. The college was created with a single, unwavering purpose: to serve the underserved through the timeless science of Ayurveda.

Situated in the culturally rich city of Dharwad in North Karnataka, the college began its journey with an intake of 50 students per year for the BAMS program — a number that reflects both our commitment to quality and our dedication to personal, one-on-one academic attention.
